I Feel Like A Woman...

I have neglected my blog friends lately and just want you to know that I am aware that I am behind on reading your blogs and acknowledging the comments you have left on mine! I am working fast to catch up! Thanks for taking the time to stop by every once in awhile to check in, even when I don't stop by to say "Hi" as often as I should.

No excuses, just dealing with life issues. One of those issues is hormones. I am experiencing the precursor to "the Change of Life" and I have to say, if this is any indication of what the full blown change is like, I'm hatin' the whole womanhood thing!

I received an email the other day that pretty much sums it up:

Q: How many women with MENOPAUSE does it take to change a light bulb?

A: One! ONLY ONE!!!! And do you know WHY? Because no one else in this house knows HOW to change a light bulb! They don't even know that the bulb is BURNED OUT!! They would sit in the dark for THREE DAYS before they figured it out. And, once they figured it out, they wouldn't be able to find the light bulbs despite the fact that they've been in the SAME CUPBOARD for the past 17 YEARS! But if they did, by some miracle of God, actually find them 2 DAYS LATER, the chair they dragged to stand on to change the STUPID light bulb would STILL BE IN THE SAME SPOT!!!!! AND UNDERNEATH IT WOULD BE THE WRAPPER THE STUPID LIGHT BULBS CAME IN!!! BECAUSE NO ONE EVER CARRIES OUT THE GARBAGE!!!! IT'S A WONDER WE HAVEN'T ALL SUFFOCATED FROM THE PILES OF GARBAGE THAT ARE A FOOT DEEP THROUGH- OUT THE ENTIRE HOUSE!! IT WOULD TAKE AN ARMY TO CLEAN THIS HOUSE!

I'm sorry.... What was the question?

If anyone out there has any experience with this, PLEASE SHARE! I need some input. At least let me know I'm not the only one going through it!

Oh Girl! We should so talk!

I just realized in the last few months that I am going into perimenopause. The weirdest things are happening with my body...it's just so frustrating and a little depressing to realize that I am that old :( I was googling symptoms yesterday and it all adds up. Yikes!

I completely feel what you are going through....I don't know what to say but hang in there....it happens to all of us ladies.

So as far as the menospause(or mentalpause as my mom so lovingly calls it)...I hope that I've still got a few good years ahead of me. My husband loves to remind me that my time is drawing closer, expecially when he sees the estroven commercials(for pre-menopausal women)!!

Now on to the subject of things getting done or NOT done around the house...I can totally relate. My TWO biggest issues would be the trash and the dirty laundry on the floor. The trash can be overflowing or stinky and none of the men in my home are phased or even seem to be aware of the stench. The dirty laundry is strewn through the house wherever my men decide to strip. Granted, my hubby does his undressing in our room, but the boys leave a trail down the hall into their room. Maybe it's os they can find their way to bed! LOL

Hopefully when we are all in MP our men will know better!! Love your blog and I miss you tons!

I'm so glad to know somebody gets what I am feeling, Rachael! Thanks for commiserating with me!

Trisha - I have to laugh when I read about your boys...thinking that we need to get the family together. I have a feeling the men would all get along famously!

oh scary, I never heard about perimenopause before! I guess I'm into it too (your tale sounded very familiar).
By the way, I had never had PMS until my american companions told me about it(I just called it "mala leche"). I guess now I can legally start claiming perimenopausical simptoms. Oh boy, we spaniard women are so behind...

I'm already an emotional hormonal mess sometimes...can't imagine what it'll be like with the "change". Maybe I'll "change" into a 135 pound blonde Icelandic beauty or something.

Kristi - Good luck with that...

~sigh~ Is this the price we pay for the glory and honor of giving birth?

The women in my family hit this around early 40's. I will be 38 this year. My family is so screwed in another couple of years.

Well, I can sympathize somewhat. A few years back, before they insurance company decided that my doctor was RIGHT and we should go ahead and go forward with that hysterectomy, they made my doctor send me through early chemical menopause.

Twice.

Believe me when I tell you that experiencing that phenomenon once sucked eggs. Take it as the Gospel truth when I tell you that experiencing it TWICE sucked giant rotten stinky eggs.

And in what I suspect might be one of the worst after effects of this entire thing? They left the ovaries, so I get the privilege of going through the entire thing one more time. Naturally.
